September 30, 2013 (Monday): ORIENTATION DAY IN SANTO NINO PARISH, BULA, GENERAL SANTOS CITY
As with any other journey, a certain amount of preparation is necessary. There are many ways on how to prepare for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We can scan the inexhaustible sites on the internet, read books about pilgrimage, ask a travel agency to check out books, booking hotels, buses, getting tickets, if time is near, sorting out what to bring, orientation on the pilgrimage itself and so on.
But the best step we took in our self-preparation is one of prayer besides money. For me, prayer was the better way that equipped us for the pilgrimage especially praying the Scriptures, which was the guidance of our spiritual road map. That is why, Tintin, from Executive Resources, Inc. told us to bring a Bible during our orientation, not only to use it for reading but for me, also for praying and reflecting. Somebody said: “The Holy Land is the only place in the world whose ‘tourist guide’ is the Bible.” This is a fascinating thought. Just hearing it makes me want to dive in and read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation to assure I am completely prepared to set out on this great adventure. However, reading through the entire Bible is not an easy task.
Of course Tintin and Connie Dizon gave us some travel tips about this pilgrimage, like: airport check-in, carry-on luggage, how to check-in, documents to bring, currencies of Jordan, Dubai and Israel as well as hotels and meals and so on. The orientation ended with many of us gave their tour payment, asking for bank accounts and some clarifications.
